Query string parameters set how the ibonav.aero Interactive Map opens: centre, scale, projection, layers, a geolocated chart. Add them to the address of the map you embed:

General rules

  • An invalid or incomplete parameter causes no error; it is ignored.
  • Parameters are a one-time override for that page load. They are not saved; the viewer's stored preferences (layers, projection) stay as they are.
  • Several parameters can be combined with &.
  • Values with spaces or special characters must be URL-encoded (%20 etc.).
  • Parameter names are case-sensitive.

Centre of the map at opening.

mapSetZoomType / mapSetZoomValue

Scale or zoom at opening. Both must be given; if one is missing, both are ignored.

level Zoom level 0–28 (rounded to an integer).

The map remembers the viewer's last position and restores it at the next opening. When mapSetCenter or mapSetZoomType is given, the remembered position is ignored, so a shared link always opens at the intended place.

selectCrs

Projection at opening. The viewer's saved projection is not changed.

It has no effect when the embedding page has turned projection selection off (disableProjectionSelection, see SDK embedding).

Layers

mapLayersDeselectDefaults

Turns off every layer that is on by default. No value is needed. Combine it with mapLayersAdd to start from an empty selection.

Layers the viewer has turned on or off themselves are not affected (their saved preference wins).

mapLayersAdd

Turns the listed layers on, on top of the current selection. Several layers are separated by commas.

  • The value is the layer code (list below). A layer that has a code is matched only by its code.
  • A layer without a code is matched by its title, or by its path (Group/Layer) when the same title appears in several groups, e.g. Ibosoft ATC VHF Coverage/10000 ft.
  • When a layer inside a group is turned on, its group is shown too.
  • Role-locked layers stay locked; see Frame embedding.

Aeronautical layers: the layer code is the Tile Server layer name, e.g. dp_terminal_points, navaid_navaids, route_ats_upper, ad_designated_ad_hp, atsairspace_ctr, navwarnarea_p_r_d, obst_area_1. The full list is in the first table of Tile Server › Layer Lists (the Tile layer column).

Selects the base map; the other base maps are turned off. The value is the base map code.

The Google and HGM base maps need a role and stay locked without it.

Geolocated chart

Adds an AIP chart (or an Other Charts chart) to the map as a geolocated overlay. If a required parameter is missing, nothing is added.

Folder and file names are the ones shown in the ibonav.aero chart viewer (without the file extension). The same names are returned by the Charts API.

Surveillance parameters

The surveillance (ADS-B) layer is opened with the layer code in mapLayersAdd:

Only then is the surveillance engine loaded. After that, the engine reads its own parameters from the same address (aircraft selection, replay, tracks, heatmap …). These parameters belong to the tar1090 engine; see the upstream reference tar1090 README-query.

  • Surveillance needs a role (or, in SDK embedding, the role lock turned off with surveillanceRequiredRoles: []); while it is locked, these parameters have no effect.
  • The engine's parameter names do not clash with the map's parameters, so both can be used in one address. The map view (centre, zoom) is set by the map's parameters.
