About the reference documents: Related Documents and Resources

Decodes a GAMET area forecast into readable fields, one box per section, following the PANS-MET template. Optionally returns machine-readable values (parsed).

The format is that of PANS-MET Appendix 6 (Table A6-1). To get messages to decode, see GAMET.

Endpoints

POST /opmet-decoder-gamet-icao/decode?parsed=false
Content-Type: application/json

{ "raw": "<GAMET text>" }

Parameters

Parameter In Default Description
raw body — Message text, at least 10 characters; line breaks are kept and used.
parsed query false true: add the parsed object

How the template is processed

  • Field names and wording come from PANS-MET Table A6-1 and its notes: output keys are the template element names (e.g. SFC VIS → "Surface visibility", SIG CLD → "Cloud", PSYS → "Pressure centres and fronts"); time ranges, areas, levels and units are written out. Abbreviations are expanded as defined in PANS-MET and PANS-ABC (Doc 8400).
  • Header elements (FIR/CTA, identification, validity, meteorological office, name of the FIR/CTA) are at the top level.
  • Sections: SECN I and SECN II become one box each in sections, with a header (label) and the elements of the section. Elements are present only when the section gives them; elements that can repeat are lists.
  • Strict template: a value that does not follow the template is not guessed; it is listed under Undecodable elements (neighbouring groups form one entry).

For the full list of elements, see PANS-MET Table A6-1.
