Live audio of air traffic control frequencies received by the Ibosoft ATC receivers, as continuous MP3 streams. The same streams are played on the ibonav.aero ATC Broadcasts page and in the ATC panel of the Interactive Map.

What you can build with it: a player for the frequencies of an aerodrome or FIR, an "online / offline" overview of the channels, or audio next to your own traffic display.

Channel list

The channels, grouped into pages (aerodromes, FIRs …), are published as one JSON file:

GET https://ibonav.aero/atc-files/configurations/channels.json

Each page has an ident (e.g. ltai, lccc), a name, a category (aerodrome or airspace) and a list of channels. The fields of a channel that matter for playback:

Field Description
url Mount point of the stream (e.g. ANTALYA-125-500)
freq Frequency, e.g. 125.500 MHz
type Kind of channel: aerodrome, approach, fir, heliport, common, other
name, notes Display name and remarks
receiver-id Receiver the channel comes from
associated-aerodromes, associated-airspaces Aerodromes and airspaces the frequency serves

The page ident is also the value of the website's listen parameter (https://ibonav.aero/atc-broadcasts?listen=ltai, see ATC Pages Query Strings).

Stream

GET https://atc1.ibosoft.net.tr:2096/{mount point}

The answer is an endless audio/mpeg (MP3) stream; play it with an <audio> element or any MP3-capable player:

<audio controls preload="none"
       src="https://atc1.ibosoft.net.tr:2096/ANTALYA-125-500"></audio>
  • Use preload="none" and start the stream only when the listener presses play; an open stream counts against the limit of concurrent streams even when nobody listens.

Status of the channels

GET https://atc1.ibosoft.net.tr:2096/status-json.xsl

The Icecast status document. icestats.source (an object, or a list when several streams are on air) lists the streams currently on air; the last path segment of each listenurl is the mount point. A channel whose mount point is missing here is offline. The ibonav.aero pages read it once a minute; there is no reason to ask more often.

Limits

Requests and concurrent streams are limited; see Rate Limits. Over the limit the server answers 429 with Retry-After.

Code Meaning
404 No such mount point, or the channel is not on air
429 Too many requests or streams; wait Retry-After seconds
