Alerts

Published aviation notices — chart notices, VFR manual notices, navigation database change notices, airport moving map alerts and similar documents — with their regions, areas and attached PDFs. The list is filterable by region, category and area; each notice can be opened in detail and its attachment downloaded.

An alert is a published document, not a per-airport message: it covers a region (for example Eastern Europe) and a list of areas (countries). Use /alerts/filters to populate filter menus, /alerts for the list, /alertdetail for the full text and attachment list, and /alertpdf to fetch an attachment. For per-airport notices see Change Notices.

Endpoints

Endpoint Description
GET /alerts The notice list, filtered (most used)
GET /alerts/filters The available regions, categories and areas — for filter menus
GET /alertdetail/{alert_id} One notice with its full text and attachment list
GET /alertpdf/{alert_id} An attachment of a notice

Parameters

/alerts

All optional, all repeatable.

Name Matching
region The notice's region contains one of the given values (substring)
category The notice's category equals one of the given values (exact)
subRegion The notice's areas contains one of the given values (substring)

Values of the same parameter are OR-ed, different parameters are AND-ed: ?region=Africa&region=Europe&category=VFR%20Manual → (Africa or Europe) and category VFR Manual.

/alertpdf/{alert_id}

Name In Default Description
alert_id path — Notice ID
attachment query (int) 0 Attachment index, from attachments[].index in /alertdetail

Negative values count from the end (-1 is the last attachment).

}

/alertpdf/{alert_id}

The attachment itself, with the upstream content type (usually application/pdf), Content-Disposition: inline; filename=<name>.

Errors

Errors are returned as {"detail": "<message>"}.

Code Meaning
404 Notice <id> not found
404 Notice has no attached PDFs
404 Attachment index <n> out of range (total: <count>)
500 The notice list could not be retrieved

Notes

  • The whole notice list (~190 items) is retrieved at once and kept for 10 minutes; filtering happens on the cached copy. A request made while the cache is empty or expired takes about 25–45 s, every request within the following 10 minutes is immediate. Do not use /alerts as a synchronous call inside a request path without a timeout of at least 60 s.
  • Attachments are cached for 10 minutes as well.
  • relatedIcaos is a heuristic over the description text; do not treat it as an authoritative airport list.
