GAMET area forecasts for low-level flights: the messages in force, a short history, and a GeoJSON layer with the area each message covers.

Messages are checked every 10 minutes, and again at the top of each hour until the new issue is in. The message format is that of PANS-MET Appendix 6 (Table A6-1). To decode a message, pass its raw text to GAMET (ICAO).

Endpoints

GET /opmet-gamet/geojson Polygon layer of the messages in force (FeatureCollection)
GET /opmet-gamet/latest-snapshot Time of the newest data, {"snapshot": "YYYYMMDD_HHMM"} or null

For a map layer, poll /latest-snapshot and request /geojson only when the value changes.

Parameters

Parameter Endpoints Description
fir /recent, /history, /geojson Only messages of these FIR/CTAs: ICAO location indicator of the FIR/CTA, comma-separated for several (?fir=LTBB,LTAA). Case-insensitive.
count /history Number of most recent messages (≥ 1); omit for all stored messages (the last 20 per data source)
source all except /latest-snapshot Use only this data source (mgm); an unknown id returns 400

An issuing office may publish more than one GAMET at a time, one per sub-area of the FIR.

met_office ICAO location indicator of the issuing meteorological office
observation_time / epoch Time of issue (ISO 8601, UTC / Unix seconds)
raw Message text, line breaks kept
fir The "Name of FIR/CTA" line of the message
fir_icao ICAO location indicator of the FIR/CTA
fir_code, region_code Sub-area designators used to place the message on the map
source Name of the data source

/geojson features carry met_office, fir_icao, region_code, fir_code, fir, observation_time, source, raw as properties. The polygon is derived from the sub-area designator in the FIR/CTA line; when the message has no designator, the area of the issuing office is used. Treat the polygon as an approximate display area — the message text is authoritative.

503 The service is starting up; retry shortly

If a data source cannot be reached, the last received messages stay available.
